Richard Palmer, Jr. – President

Rick founded Hazen Transfer in 2015. Today, Rick serves as the president of Hazen Transfer as well as the president of Hazen Transport. Hazen Transport is a 25 year family owned and operated asset based trucking company in metro Detroit. Rick is a graduate of Albion College and was a member of the Carl A. Gerstacker Program for Professional Management. Rick his wife Megan and three children live in Metro Detroit.

Theo Booser – Vice President
Theo came to Hazen in 2015 as the Vice President and General Manager. Theo has been with the company from the time of inception. Theo has over a decade of logistics services experience. His hands on, and customer first approach has been instrumental to building the culture at Hazen Transfer. He is a graduate of Albion College, and resides in Metro Detroit with his wife and young son.

Tom Welland – Chief Financial Officer, Hazen Transport

Tom joined Hazen Transport in 1998 after many years as an outside CPA consultant. He is responsible for all financial aspects of the Company. Tom is a graduate of Wayne State University and is a member of both the American and Michigan Associations of Certified Public Accountants. He is married to Patty and has two sons.

Richard Palmer – Chairman of the Board

Richard Palmer founded Hazen Transport in 1992 as a division of the family-owned Palmer Moving and Storage, which he joined in 1978 taking over as president in 1979. In 2006, he became the sole owner of Hazen Transport and stayed on as the CEO until 2015 when Hazen sold their final mile division to Dynamex. He currently serves as Vice President/General Manager for Transforce.   Palmer is a graduate of the University of Michigan and a life-long Michigan resident. He is married to Connie and has three daughters, two sons and three grandchildren.

James O. Futterknecht, Jr.

Jim is a former partner with Hammond Kennedy Whitney (HKW), a private equity firm located in Indianapolis, IN.  Prior to joining HKW in 1999, he served as Chairman, CEO and President of Excel Industries, Inc. (NYSE: EXC), an OEM automotive components supplier. In 1983, Jim was part of the management who partnered with HKW to acquire Excel Industries. Starting with revenues of $40 million, the management team took Excel public in 1984, grew revenues to $1.2 billion and in 1999, for strategic reasons, merged the company with Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. Most recently he has served as President and CEO of Visioneering, Inc., a supplier of large component tooling to the Aerospace Industry.   Mr. Futterknecht, Jr. has a B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin. He has been married to Sandy for over 40 years, and has two children and three grandchildren.

Jeffrey Palmer

Jeffrey has been in the transportation industry for Thirty-five years.  He has been President of Palmer moving since 1989, was Chairman of STI for 6 years, a $250M interstate specialized transportation provider.  He is a current Board member of The American Moving and Storage Association as well as a past president and current Board Member of The Michigan Movers Association.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University. Jeffrey is married with five children.
